The current style or this one?
I'm trying to put my best foot forward here. ◊

Tough call. I think the current style BUT there are elements of the other one that I like more (the typography and the comment numbering).

I like the alternative. But I have seen sites where there are several alternative "skins" available and the viewer can choose which he'd prefer. Maybe that's the way to go. I will say this, however: Your design sense and aesthetic taste are excellent - I have yet to see you put together an ugly site. Whichever you choose is going to do the job well.

I vote current, but what do I know? I'm just a dumb girl.

I like the page layout of the latter, but the masthead treatment of the former. Is that allowed?

Yes bubs, typography is definitely a weak spot with me, but eventually I will get the hang of it (I hope).
Mr. Gone, thank you for your kind words, as always – and the styleflippar is coming directly. ( wink wink )
Vanessa, dumb girls are the new black, and self-deprecating humor is SO 2004. Anyways, I know dumb chicks when I see 'em, and you don't qualify ;).
Matt, thanks for the pointers, I appreciate the professional help. Right now I am in a
slump, looking for new ideas, and I can use all the suggestions I can get. :)

Josh,
I dig the current version, though the alternate is also mighty-fine. This one has a nice seriousness to it that I'm digging.

Yeah, dreadfully serious. I didn't realize how stern and antiquey it looked, of course, until I had optimized and saved the fiftieth (or so) GIF. I suppose the whole desultory theme is more apropos than I realized.

I like them both. The only think I don't like about the alternative is too much grey.

Thanks Kim.
Yes, the grey is the result of my amateur roots - namely my inefficient palette management. This usually results in the muddiness you see. This site was known for quite a stretch as the place "where primary colors come to die." ;)
